
Men's Soccer Fall to SIU Edwardsville, 3-1

The Wright State men's soccer team dropped a 3-1 decision to SIU Edwardsville on Friday evening at Alumni Field. WSU tallied the first goal of the match, but the visiting Cougars of SIU Edwardsville tallied three unanswered to claim the match.
The Green and Gold got on the board first when sophomore Braden Fleak cut a shot loose from inside the six-yard box and into the back of the net at the 11:18 mark in the match. Fleak took a long pass from rookie Jabari Velinor and buried his third goal of the season.
Late in the first half, SIU Edwardsville would tally the equalizer when Chris Anzalone headed one past a sprawled out WSU goalkeeper, Aaron Ritter.
With the scored tied at 1-1 after the first half, SIUE would net the eventual match winner in the 56th minute. Nash Maduekwe took a deflection off of a Ritter save and tallied his first goal of the season from five yards out.
SIUE (2-2) would add a late marker from Benny Jeffery to account for the final score of 3-1.
The Raiders were led by sophomore Jordan Haggit who tallied three shots in contest.
The Green and Gold fall to 1-5 overall with the loss and will have the next week off before hosting Alabama A&M on Friday, September 19. That match will be part of a doubleheader with the women's squad and start at 5:00 at Alumni Field.
