Softball Defeats Loyola Marymount at Las Vegas Tournament

The Wright State softball team wrapped up play at the Eller Media Stadium Tournament in Las Vegas Sunday with a come-from-behind 3-1 win over Loyola Marymount.
The Lions scored what turned out to be their lone run of the game in the second, only to see the Raiders tie the game in the top of the third. With one out, Louie Haney singled, went to second on a ground out and scored as Ashleigh Jackson delivered a hit up the middle.
It stayed that way until WSU scored twice in the sixth. After Justine Shilt and China Frost led off with singles and Lindsay Barrett advanced both into scoring position with a bunt, Allison Cox had a sacrifice fly to center to plate Shilt and Jamie Perkins doubled to center to drive in Frost.
Haney, in her first collegiate start after making her WSU pitching debut with two innings of relief Saturday against Drake, allowed just five hits in the complete game effort as the sophomore struck out one.
Wright State (5-8) is back in action at the Comfort Inn Softball Classic March 7-8, where the Raiders will face host Morehead State along with Oakland and Dayton.
