Youngstown State led 3-0 and 4-3 in the early going, but it was all Wright State after that as the Raiders scored the final eight runs to take the Horizon League series finale from the Penguins 11-4 at a windy, rainy WSU Softball Field Sunday afternoon.

YSU scored a run in the first and two in the second to go up 3-0, but Wright State tied the game with three unearned runs in its half of the second. A solo home run to right center off the bat of Ashley Conger put the Penguins back up one in the third, only to see the Raiders take the lead for good in bottom of the inning. After Kristen Bradshaw singled and scored on a Katie Kine triple, Kine scored as Lindsay Barrett reached on an error.

Two more Youngstown State errors resulted in two more WSU runs in the fourth and after the Raiders loaded the bases in the fifth on walks by Barrett, Mollie Berry and Louie Haney, Jamie Perkins delivered the big blow with a grand slam to center, her sixth home run of the season and fourth in the last five games.

Sharon Palma (6-6) picked up the win in relief, giving up just two hits and a run over 5.2 innings with five strikeouts. Offensively, Briauna Birl and Kine each had two hits.

Wright State (15-14, 3-3 Horizon) has six League games on the road scheduled for this week, starting with a doubleheader at Valparaiso on Wednesday, April 1, at 4:00 Eastern.
