The Wright State women's soccer team took an early 1-0 lead at IPFW Friday evening and outshot the Mastodons 21-10 in regulation, but a second half tally from IPFW proved to be the last goal in a 1-1 draw at Hefner Stadium. WSU held a 25-10 edge in shots and forced the Mastodon keeper to make nine saves in the match.
The Raiders opened the scoring on a goal by Morgan Butler. It was the first goal of the season for Butler and came on an assist from Amber Kasmer at the 30:33 mark.
WSU would hold that lead until late in the second half when Lisa Underwood broke away from the WSU defense and took a pass from Tara O'Toole, scoring from far post to tie the game at 1-1.
WSU would hold a 25-10 edge in shots in the match, including a 4-0 edge in the two overtime periods, and took eight corner kicks to only two for IPFW. Meghan Hackerson made four saves in net for WSU and the Green and Gold forced the IPFW keeper to save nine shots in 110:00 of play.
The Raiders are now 0-3-1 on the season and will head into a Horizon League matchup against Loyola on Sunday, September 6. Wright State will take to the pitch at Alumni Field for a 1:00 start with the Ramblers.
