The one-goal differential streak came to end for the Wright State women's soccer team after 11 straight matches, but the ending was a good one for the Raiders as they scored twice in the first half and went on to a 3-0 Horizon League decision over Green Bay Friday night at Alumni Field.
Sara Palermo gave WSU the lead for good at the 6:52 mark of the first half with her first goal of the season on an assist by Brittany Persaud. Persaud then made it 2-0 at the 19:50 mark with her sixth goal of the year on an assist by Amber Kasmer, her fifth of the season.
Persaud then figured in the final goal for Wright State at the 65:05 mark of the second half as she tallied the assist, her eighth of the year, on Lauren Patterson's fourth goal of the season, with all four coming in the last six matches.
Meghan Hackerson took it from there as the senior goalkeeper recorded her school-record 25th career shutout with five saves.
WSU outshot the Phoenix (3-9-3, 1-5-1 Horizon) 14-8.
Wright State (9-8, 4-3 Horizon), winners of six of its last seven, closes out the regular season Sunday against league-leader Milwaukee at Alumni Field, starting at 1:00. The seven Raider seniors--Ashley Burkhardt, Jenna Cooper, Jazmine Galbreath, Hackerson, Heather Harrison, Amber Kasmer and Trisha Stevens--will be recognized before the match.
