For the third straight match, the Wright State women's soccer team came out on top by a 2-1 score as the Raiders defeated the Longwood Lancers Friday night at Alumni Field.
Lauren Patterson opened the scoring for WSU at the 29:45 mark of the first half as she scored off a Brittany Persaud corner kick. It was Patterson's second goal of the season and the fifth assist for Persaud.
Amber Kasmer then made it 2-0 at the 69:43 mark of the second half as she broke away on the right side and scored her fifth goal of the year.
Longwood (8-6) cut the deficit in half with Lindsey Ottavio's 13th goal of the season at the 84:43 mark, but the Raiders held on from there for the victory as WSU goalkeeper recorded seven saves on the night.
Wright State (6-7) wraps up its four-match homestand on Sunday as the Raiders host Indiana State at 1:00. That contest will be the first of a doubleheader at Alumni Field as the men's soccer team takes on Detroit at 5:00.
