Softball Falls to North Dakota State

The Wright State softball team wrapped up play at the USF LaQuinta Inn and Suites Tournament in Tampa Sunday with a 7-1 setback to North Dakota State.
The Bison opened the scoring with a run in the top of the first, but WSU answered with one of its own in the bottom of the inning. Briauna Birl led off with a single, stole second and after advancing to third on a throwing error by the catcher, she scored on a Kristen Bradshaw sacrifice fly to left.
That turned out to be the only run of the day for the Raiders as North Dakota State went in front to stay with a run in the second and added two more in the third, one in the fourth and two in the seventh.
Birl paced the WSU offense with two hits.
Wright State (2-5) returns to action next weekend at the Frost Classic in Chattanooga, Tennessee. The Raiders take on Georgetown (10:00) and Ball State (5:30) on Friday, Tennessee Tech (10:00) and Evansville (3:00) on Saturday and Rutgers (10:00) on Sunday.
