
Women's Soccer Falls 3-1 at Illinois

Wright State tied the match with a goal late in the first half, only to see Illinois score twice in the second half as the Fighting Illini defeated the Raiders 3-1 in women's soccer action in Champaign, Illinois, Tuesday night.
Illinois (2-0) scored the opening goal at the 29:12 mark of the opening period, only to see WSU tie it in with just 34 seconds left until halftime as Emilie Fillion connected on a shot from outside the box over the goalkeeper for her first collegiate goal.
It stayed that way until the Fighting Illini broke the deadlock with a goal at the 77:00 mark and added another at the 82:22 mark to round out the scoring.
Illinois outshot WSU 34-5 and took eight corner kicks compared to none for the Raiders.
Amber Kasmer recorded two shots in the contest while Brooke McCurdy tallied nine saves.
Wright State (0-2) continues its opening six-match road trip on Friday, August 27, with an 8:00 matchup at Middle Tennessee.
