Wright State scored twice in the opening seven minutes of the contest and held on from there for a 2-1 win at Middle Tennessee Friday night in women's soccer action, giving the Raiders their first win of the season.
Brittany Persaud opened the scoring with a goal at the 3:49 mark as she connected from 20 yards out on the left side off a loose ball. It was Persaud's first goal of the season.
The Raiders made it 2-0 just 2:38 later on a Morgan Butler goal on an assist by Amber Kasmer.
Middle Tennessee (0-2) tallied a goal midway through the period, but that would all the closer the Blue Raiders would get as the Raider defense held the rest of the way.
Brooke McCurdy recorded six saves in goal while Butler and Persaud each took three shots.
Wright State (1-2) continues its season-opening six match road swing next week with matchups at Eastern Kentucky on Friday, September 3, starting at 5:00, followed by Morehead State on Sunday, September 5, at 1:00.
