The Wright State volleyball team dropped a 25-20, 25-23, 25-23 Horizon League decision at UIC Saturday afternoon.
WSU led 4-1 early in the first set thanks in part to two Alaina McAuley kills, only to see the Flames answer with four straight to go in front. The Raiders later tied the set at 14 on a UIC attack error before the Flames regained the lead for good.
The Raiders rallied from a 7-2 deficit in the second set to tie the score five times, the final at 23 on another McAuley kill, but UIC tallied the final two points on a Nicole Allgood kill and a WSU hitting error.
Down 23-19 in the final set, Wright State took advantage of a McAuley kill and three straight Flame errors to draw even before UIC (11-5, 4-1 Horizon) closed out the match with a Kelsey Safranek kill and a Raider error.
McAuley led WSU with 13 kills while Heidi Splinter posted a double-double of 10 kills and 12 digs. Ashleigh Lucco recorded 24 assists and Jessica Levy added 18 digs.
Wright State (2-15, 1-4 Horizon) heads to Butler on Tuesday for a 7:00 match before hosting Green Bay and Loyola on Saturday and Sunday, both starting at 2:00.
