
Women Pull Away to Defeat Southeast Missouri

Leading by just four at the half, the women's basketball team opened the second half with a 14-4 run and went on to a 74-53 win over Southeast Missouri Monday at the Wright State Invitational Presented by Holiday Inn.
The Redhawks jumped out to an 11-2 lead four minutes into the contest before WSU answered with an 18-2 burst, eight of those coming from Molly Fox, to go up 20-13 with 9:16 remaining in the first half.
Wright State's lead then seesawed between seven and three the rest of the half before a jumper by Bailie Roberts in the final minute made it 34-30 at the break.
The Raiders shot 46 percent in the opening 20 minutes compared to 41 percent for the Redhawks. WSU also made eight of 10 free throws while Southeast Missouri was just two for two.
The decisive 14-4 run, five by Courtney Boyd, extended Wright State's margin to 48-34 with 13:16 left and the Raiders maintained a double-digit advantage the rest of the way, with the largest lead being 74-52 on a Boyd three in the final minute.
WSU continues its strong shooting in the second half, hitting 47 percent of its shots to finish the game at 46 percent overall, including 11 of 21 from three-point range. The Redhawks, meanwhile, made just six of 28 shots the final 20 minutes to end up at 32 percent.
Fox made all eight of her shots from the field and was nine of 12 at the foul line to lead the Raiders with 25 points and added nine rebounds. Boyd added 19 points, including five three-pointers.
Roberts paced Southeast Missouri with 11 points.
In the second game of the day, Central Michigan defeated Longwood 70-59.
The Wright State Invitational Presented by Holiday Inn wraps up Tuesday afternoon as the Raiders (7-4) faces Central Michigan (6-5) in the championship game at noon, followed by Southeast Missouri (2-10) and Longwood (2-9) in the third-place game at 2:30.
