Wright State University athletics and WBZI radio of Xenia, Ohio, have entered into a two-year partnership to carry all the men's basketball games as well as men's basketball coaches' shows.
WBZI will air all the events live on 100.3 FM, adding the day games on WBZI 1500, WKFI 1090 and WEDI 1130 on the AM dial. The daytime coverage area will include Richmond, Indiana to Grove City, Ohio and Piqua to northern Kentucky. The games and shows will also be streamed through myclassiccountry.com and wsuraiders.com.
"We look forward to our partnership with WBZI President Joe Mullins and everyone who will make this a special relationship from the on-air talent to the engineers to the sales staff," WSU Director of Athletics Bob Grant said. "WBZI will allow us to expose more people to Raider basketball and allow us to better serve the fans and alumni of the area. I'd also like to thank ClearChannel who have been great to work with through the years."
WBZI, a stalwart of the Greene County scene for many years, will air each men's basketball game and 12 men's coach's shows at a location still to be determined. Talent for the radio stations include morning show host Bucks Braun, who once worked with the Raiders radio crew, and Mullins himself in the early afternoon.
"We are so excited to be the new home of Raider basketball! When our Classic Country Radio network added FM 100.3 in early 2010, listenership soared. Our partnership with Wright State University athletics will have the full support of our entire team of broadcast professionals", stated Joe Mullins, who has owned and managed WBZI since 1995.
The Raiders will tipoff the regular season at Ohio State November 11. WSU will host Central State in an exhibition game on a yet to be determined date. WSU went 19-14 last year after four straight 20-win seasons and will have a roster filled with nine freshmen and sophomores.
