Swimming Falls to UIC
10/13/2012 4:00:00 AM | Swimming & Diving
The Wright State swimming and diving teams dropped their home opener to UIC Saturday at the WSU Natatorium, both by 176-122 scores.
The Raider men posted five first-place finishes on the day as John Vigar won the 200 and 500 free for the second straight meet, Davynn Peffer the 100 breast, Eric Ahlden the 200 back. The 200 medley relay team of Kile Aukerman, Peffer, Matt Dassow and Braxten Judkins was also victorious.
On the women's side, WSU recorded three first-place finishes as Neena Zwier won the three-meter diving competition, Sarah Weidner the 200 back and Justyna Hampel the 500 free.
"I am happy with the progress we have made in the early stages of the season," said head coach Sion Brinn. "Justyna Hampel has shown great strength and range in the free events--from sprints to distance--and that will help us overall. The first relay performed well also and we hope to build on these successes in future meets."
Wright State returns to action in two weeks with a trip to Wisconsin, taking on Milwaukee on Friday, October 26, at 6:00 Eastern followed by Green Bay on Saturday, October 27, at 1:00 Dayton time.
