Lauren Patterson scored a goal with five minutes left in regulation, but the Wright State women's soccer team could not come up with another as Youngstown State scored with 26 seconds left in the extra period to win 2-1 Saturday in Youngstown.
It was a scoreless match until Tyesha Kizer gave the Penguins a 1-0 lead with a goal at the 75:34 mark of the second half. Patterson, though, came up with the equalizer at the 84:59 mark as her shot from 55 yards out went through the hands of the YSU goalkeeper and into the goal. It was Patterson's third goal of the season.
Jade Flory, however, scored the golden goal for Youngstown State with 26 seconds remaining in the first overtime as the Penguins had a 4-1 shot advantage in the extra period and ended up with a 14-13 shot edge overall.
Wright State (7-4-6, 2-2-3 Horizon) will face Youngstown State (8-8, 3-4 Horizon) again on Tuesday in the first round of the Horizon League Tournament as the #4 seed Penguins host the #5 seed Raiders at 7:00 at Stambaugh Stadium.
