Senior Seth Petrey scored a goal early in the second half and the men's soccer team made that lead stand the rest of the way for a 1-0 Senior Night decision over Milwaukee Saturday at Alumni Field.
The Raiders outshot the Panthers 9-6 in the first half, but neither team came away with a goal as UWM goalkeeper John Shakon recorded six saves and WSU keeper Jacob Bye two.
It stayed scoreless until Petrey tallied the game-winner at the 54:19 mark. He took a pass from Brett Elder at midfield, drove down the middle, and connected on a shot from just inside the box for his first goal of the season. It was Elder's third assist of the year.
Bye and the rest of the Raider defense maintained the lead the rest of the way as the junior goalkeeper finished with six saves as Milwaukee outshot Wright State 11-6 in the second half and had a 4-0 advantage in corner kicks.
Wright State (4-11-1, 2-3-1 Horizon) wraps up the regular season next week with a pair of road matches, taking on Bowling Green on Tuesday, October 30, at 7:00 followed by Loyola on Saturday, November 3, at 8:00 Eastern.
