The Wright State softball team wrapped up play at the Charleston Southern Tournament Saturday with an 11-8 setback against Hampton. The Raiders later played Charleston Southern in the championship, but that game was called due to darkness after four innings and will not count in the season statistics.

WSU jumped out to a quick lead with three in the first. Kristi Boreing led off with a triple to right and scored on a Chelsea Archer hit to center. One out later, Kacie Rapshus doubled to left center to put two runners into scoring position and after Archer came in on an error, Reagan Stofcheck doubled to center to plate Rapshus.

The Raiders added another run in the second as Boreing scored on a passed ball, only to see the Pirates go in front 5-4 with a run of their own in the second and four more in the third. Wright State tied it in the fourth on a Rapshus RBI double, but again Hampton had an answer, tallying three in the bottom of the frame to make it 8-5.

WSU evened it at eight with three in the fifth, including an Angie Clark RBI double, but Hampton pulled out the win with three in the bottom of the sixth.

Archer paced the Raider offense with four hits while Rapshus had two.

Wright State (6-6) heads to Carbondale, Illinois, next weekend for the Coach B Classic, facing Northern Illinois, Western Illinois, SIU Edwardsville and host Southern Illinois.
