Wright State rallied from a 4-1 deficit with three in the fifth, only to see Ball State answer right back with a run in the sixth for a 5-4 decision at the WSU Softball Field Wednesday afternoon.

The Cardinals scored a pair of unearned runs in the top of the first, only to see the Raiders respond with a run of their own in the bottom half of the inning. Kristi Boreing, celebrating her 20th birthday, led off with a double to right center and after moving up to third on a China Frost ground out, scored as Michelle Baker reached on an error.

Ball State extended the lead to 4-1 with single runs in the second and third and it stayed that way until the bottom of the fifth despite WSU having the bases loaded with one out in the third.

Wright State, though, was able to tie it in the fifth. An Angie Clark walk and a Boreing hit, her third of the game, put runners on first and second and Frost plated Clark with a single down the left field line. A failed double steal attempt resulted in the first out, but the Raiders had runners on first and second after Kacie Rapshus reached on a fielder's choice.

Baker followed with a double to left to make it 4-3 and Chelsea Archer tied it as her ground out knocked in Rapshus.

It took just one batter, however, for the Cardinals to go back out in front to stay as Audrey Bickel led off the sixth with her sixth home run of the season. The Raiders would manage just one baserunner against BSU pitcher Kim Mazzapick (11-3) the rest of the way.

Wright State (14-18) returns to Horizon League play this weekend with a three-game set at Cleveland State, starting with a single game Friday at 3:00.
