Softball Wins at Cleveland State

Down 2-1 heading into the sixth, the offense came alive for the Wright State softball team over the final two innings, scoring five times for a 6-2 Horizon League win at Cleveland State Friday afternoon.
The Vikings grabbed the early lead with two runs in the first and it stayed that way until the Raiders scored a run in the third. With one out, Kristi Boreing singled up the middle and went to second as China Frost reached on an error. Kacie Rapshus followed with a hit to left to plate Boreing and make it 2-1.
WSU then went in front for good with three in the sixth. Hits by Colleen Schneider and Chelsea Archer started the frame and a one-out single from Kortney Tackett loaded the bases. An Angie Clark sacrifice fly to right tied the score and moved Archer and Tackett into scoring position, where both scored on a Boreing double to left.
The Raiders rounded out the scoring with a pair in the seventh on an Archer two-run single.
After giving up two runs and three hits in the opening inning, Wright State pitcher Krystian DeWitt (11-16) shut out Cleveland State on just four hits the rest of the way, striking out two.
Offensively, Archer finished with four hits while Boreing and Rapshus each had two.
Wright State (15-18, 5-2 Horizon) and Cleveland State wrap up the weekend series Saturday with a doubleheader starting at noon.
