
Volleyball Drops Three-Set Decision at Youngstown State

The Wright State volleyball team dropped a three-set decision Friday night at Youngstown State. The Penguins won the match 25-20, 25-14, 25-21.
YSU used an 8-4 run to break open a 14-10 lead in the opening set and led the entire way in taking the second set. The Penguins then went up 23-16 in the third set before the Raiders answered with four straight points, two coming on blocks by Haley Garr.
Youngstown State, however, closed out the match on kills by Nichele Johnson and Alexis Egler. The Penguins led just 39-31 in kills, but outhit WSU .310-.068.
Stephanie Ruffing paced the Raiders with eight kills while Ellen Senf had seven and Garr and Heidi Splinter added six. Miranda Puthoff recorded 27 assists while Kaite Glassmeyer had nine digs.
Wright State (6-22, 0-10 Horizon) visits Cleveland State Saturday at 4:00.
