The Wright State men's soccer team led 1-0 at the half, but Duke rallied for two goals in the second half as the Blue Devils pulled out a 2-1 win over the Raiders Tuesday night in Durham, North Carolina.
Sophomore forward Brett Elder gave WSU that 1-0 advantage with his third goal of the season at the 10:09 mark of the first half. Elder received a pass from senior midfielder Derek Zuniga and then beat the Duke goalkeeper for the goal. It was the first assist of the year for Zuniga.
It remained 1-0 until the Blue Devils tied it at the 68:51 mark of the second half. Duke then added the game-winner just under 10 minutes later.
Duke finished with an 18-11 shot advantage and led 12-7 in corner kicks. Freshman Tyler Blackmer, making his first collegiate start as the Raider goalkeeper, recorded four saves.
Wright State (1-4-1) opens Horizon League play on Saturday, September 28, as the Raiders host Valparaiso at 7:00 at Alumni Field.
