
Men Slip Past Ohio Dominican

The Wright State men's basketball team outscored Ohio Dominican 18-6 over the final six minutes to slip past the Panthers 76-64 Sunday afternoon at WSU's Nutter Center.
A Joe Thomasson jumper gave the Raiders their biggest lead of the first half at 27-19 with 5:21 remaining and the margin was still eight until ODU closed the period with a 10-3 run to cut the deficit to just 32-31 at the break.
WSU shot 44 percent in the opening 20 minutes compared to 36 percent for Ohio Dominican, but the Panthers were also 12 of 15 at the foul line to just six of seven for the Raiders.
ODU briefly led early in the second half and the game was tied at 58 until a Reggie Arceneaux three with six minutes to go gave Wright State the lead for good. That started the Raiders on the decisive 18-6 run down the stretch, six of those points coming from Joe Thomasson.
Both teams shot the ball well in the second half as WSU hit 17 of 25 shots in the second half to finish at 56 percent overall while ODU made 12 of 23 attempts to end the night at 44 percent. Wright State led 40-22 in points in the paint and 24-9 in points off of turnovers.
Hopkins led the Raiders with 25 points while Arceneaux had 18 and Thomasson 15 along with eight rebounds.
Mark Minch paced Ohio Dominican (0-3) with 21 points while Trent Weaver had 11.
Wright State (2-0) now hits the road for six straight games, starting with a trip up I-75 to take on Bowling Green on Wednesday, November 19, at 4:00.
