A Jackson Dietrich goal late in the first half turned out to be the only score of the contest as the Wright State men's soccer team won 1-0 at Milwaukee Saturday night.
Dietrich's goal came at the 36:44 mark as he connected on a shot to the near post on the right side. It was the third goal of the season for the freshman midfielder Dietrich. Sophomore defender Austin Pollster was credited with his second assist of the year.
The Raider defense took over from there as junior goalkeeper Tyler Blackmer posted his sixth shutout of the season and 16th of his career, recording four saves in the process.
"Tonight was a huge team road win for us," said Wright State head coach Bryan Davis. "Milwaukee is a really good team and really well coached. Kris (Kelderman), in my opinion, is one of the best coaches in college soccer and his young group gave us all we could handle."
"Our guys tonight met the challenge and we came away with a very important conference win," added Davis. "We will enjoy it for the ride home and tomorrow we start preparing for another tough test at Belmont."
WSU outshot UWM 16-9 and led 6-3 in corner kicks.
Wright State (8-3-1, 3-2-1 Horizon) is back on the road on Wednesday, October 21, as the Raiders travel to Belmont for a 7:00 Eastern contest.
