Wright State closed out its series against Cleveland State with a split Saturday at the WSU Softball Field, winning the first game 4-3 before falling in the nightcap 6-2.

The Raiders tallied an unearned run in the first inning of the opening game, only to see the Vikings answer with a run in the first and two in the second to take a 3-1 lead.

Jess Gorman doubled in Macey Gunther in the third and WSU tied in the fourth as Hanna Floyd was hit by a pitch, stole second and scored on Angie Clark's hit to center.

It stayed that way until Wright State scored the game-winner in the seventh. Clark reached on a bunt single to start the frame and after moving up to second on an Alexis Mayle bunt, scored as Gunther singled to center.

Montana Wear (5-10) earned the win in relief, pitching 3.1 scoreless innings. Offensively, Gunther finished with three hits and Clark two.

In the second game, Cleveland State jumped out to a 3-0 lead with two runs in the first and one in the second. The Raiders cut the deficit to 3-2 with an unearned run in the third and a RBI single by Becka Peterson in the fourth, but the Vikings responded with two runs in the fifth and another in the sixth.

Peterson and Libby Pfeffer each had two hits in the second game for WSU.

Wright State (6-18, 2-1 Horizon) travels to Columbus on Tuesday for a doubleheader against Ohio State starting at 4:00.
