Behind five RBI from Hanna Floyd and the two-hit pitching of Montana Wear, the softball team won its series opener at Green Bay Friday 8-3.

The Phoenix opened the scoring with a pair of unearned runs in the second, only to see the Raiders answer with four runs in the third. Macey Gunther was hit by a pitch to lead off the inning and Jess Gorman followed with her sixth home run of the season, a two-run shot to center.

After Becka Peterson singled and Reagan Stofcheck and Kortney Tackett reached on a fielder's choice and walk, respectively, to load the bases, Floyd singled up the middle to make it 4-2.

Green Bay cut the deficit in half in the fourth as its first hit of the game off of Wear drove in a run, but WSU got that run back in the fifth on a sacrifice fly by Angie Clark.

Wright State then broke the game open with three runs in the seventh. Hits by Libby Pfeffer and Peterson along with a Clark walk loaded the bases for Floyd, who cleared them with a triple to center.

Wear (10-14) finished with a two-hitter as she struck out five. Offensively, Floyd had two hits and five RBI while Pfeffer and Peterson also had two hits.

Wright State (12-24, 7-2 Horizon), who stretched its winning streak to five with the victory, wraps up the series with Green Bay with a doubleheader Saturday starting at 1:00 Eastern.
