The Wright State softball team closed out its weekend series at Green Bay with a split Saturday, falling 7-4 in the first game before erupting in the final two innings for a 15-2 win in the second game.
The Phoenix jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first game before the Raiders scored a run in the third. Kelly Dillow started the inning with a walk and after pinch-runner Rachael Oakley advanced to third on hits by Macey Gunther and Jess Gorman, she came in to score on a Libby Pfeffer sacrifice fly to left.
Green Bay extended the advantage to 7-1 before WSU put together a rally in the seventh, scoring three times. Pfeffer had her second sacrifice fly of the game to plate the first run and Kortney Tackett drove in two with a hit throught the right side.
Wright State had the potential tying run at the plate later in the inning before a strikeout ended the game.
Gunther, Gorman, Tackett and Hanna Floyd each had two hits in the opener.
In the second game, Reagan Stofcheck doubled in a run in the second and Tackett did the same in the fourth to give the Raiders a 2-0 lead.
The Phoenix tied it in the bottom of the fourth and it stayed that way until the sixth when WSU took the lead for good. Pfeffer led off with a solo home run to left center, her sixth of the season, and after a Becka Peterson double and a Stofcheck infield hit, Floyd cracked a three-run home run to left center, her third of the year, to make it 6-2.
Wright State followed the four-run sixth with nine more runs in the seventh. Peterson and Tackett each had two-run doubles in the frame while Gorman smacked a three-run home to right, her seventh of the season.
Ashley Sharp (3-10) picked up the complete-game win while offensively, Stofcheck and Tackett both had three hits and Honnah Susor, Peterson and Floyd had two.
The win was the 100th career victory for Lynn Curylo as she became the fourth Raider head coach to reach the 100-win mark in program history.
Wright State (13-25, 8-3 Horizon) visits Morehead State Wednesday for a 2:00 doubleheader.
