Wright State led 3-2 after four innings, only to see Detroit score the final five runs of the contest as the Titans won 7-3 in the series opener Friday at the WSU Softball Field.

The Raiders jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the first as Jess Gorman doubled down the right field line and came in to score on a Becka Peterson hit to left, but Detroit tied it with a run in the third and went up 2-1 with another run in the fourth.

WSU regained the advantage at 3-2 with two runs in the bottom of the fourth. Walks to Libby Pfeffer and Peterson along with a Reagan Stofcheck bunt single loaded the bases and pinch-runner Rachael Oakley scored as Hanna Floyd hit into a force play. Floyd then stole second as pinch-runner Ashton Salyers completed the double steal at home.

It was all Detroit from there, however, as a solo home run to straight-away center by Kayla Kostich tied the game in the fifth and the Titans took the lead for good with four unearned runs in the sixth.

Stofcheck paced the Raider offense with two hits while in the circle, Montana Wear struck out six in a complete-game effort.

Wright State (13-26, 8-4 Horizon) wraps up the series with Detroit Saturday with a doubleheader starting at noon.
