Vest Signs with Raiders

Alan Vest, a 6-3, 175-pound guard from Chaminade-Julienne High School in Dayton, has signed a national letter of the intent to attend Wright State and play basketball for the Raiders next fall, WSU head coach Billy Donlon announced today.

Vest, son of WSU Hall of Famer Mark Vest (1984-86) and brother of former Raider standout Matt Vest (2011-14), averaged 16.9 points, 4.1 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 1.5 steals a game this past season.  Being named the Greater Catholic League Player of the Year as a senior, he was selected to its first team as a junior when he averaged 9.8 points.

"Alan will bring a toughness, work ethic and passion that we are accustomed to seeing with the players in our program,” Donlon said.  “He will be able to play multiple positions because he has been so well coached at Chaminade-Julienne by Coach Staley.”

Under head coach Joe Staley, the Eagles advanced to the Final Four of Ohio and finished the season at 22-7, 9-1.  Also, following his senior campaign, he was named to the 2015 AP Division III All-Ohio Second Team.  Vest's career-high 28 points came this year at Badin High School.

The Raiders signed Youngstown, OH native Mark Hughes (Ursuline High School) during the early-signing period.  The 6-3 guard was named to the 2015 AP Division III All-Ohio First Team.
