Softball Drops Series Finale With UIC

Wright State closed to within one with a pair runs in the fifth, but fell a run short as UIC took the final game of the series 3-2 Sunday at the WSU Softball Field.
The Flames scored twice in the second on a Tiana Mack-Miller double and added an unearned run in the fifth to take a 3-0 lead before the Raiders answered with a pair of runs in their half of the fifth. Singles by Hanna Floyd and Angie Clark along with a wild pitch put runners on first and third to start the frame and Alexis Mayle drove both in with a double down the right field line.
Mayle, however, was thrown out at third on the play and WSU did not have another runner on base until Floyd reached on her second hit of the game, an infield single with one out in the seventh. A pop out and a force out at second, though, ended the game.
Wright State (16-29, 11-6 Horizon) wraps up the home portion of its schedule on Tuesday as the Raiders host IUPUI in a doubleheader starting at 5:00.
