The game, which began Friday afternoon, saw WSU open the scoring with three runs in the top of the first. Honnah Susor and Jess Gorman started the game with walks and both moved into scoring position on a wild pitch. Hanna Floyd then hit a grounder that the first baseman tried to get Susor at the plate, but the throw was wild as Susor and Gorman both scored and Floyd went to second.
After a Reagan Stofcheck grounder to second advanced Floyd to third, Libby Pfeffer reached on an infield single to drive in Floyd.
UIC answered right back with three of its own in the bottom of the first, only to see the Raiders regain the lead in the second as Angie Clark doubled to left and Susor tripled down the right field line.
The Flames went in front 5-4 with single runs in the third and fourth before Wright State tied it in the sixth. Stofcheck led off with a wak and pinch-runner Rachael Oakley went to third on a passed ball and a Pfeffer sacrifice. Kortney Tackett then singled down the right line to plate Oakley.
The game was then delayed by lightning in the top of the seventh inning and was later suspended for the night due to rain in the top of the ninth, still tied at 5-5.
Once play resumed, neither team had a baserunner until the Raiders came up with the game-winner in the 11th. With two out, a flare from Susor hit the third base bag and Gorman followed with a double to the gap in left center to drive in Susor.
It was left to Ashley Sharp from there and the freshman righthander retired UIC in order in the bottom of the inning to close out the win, her fourth of the tournament. Sharp (11-11) went all 11 innings, scattering 11 hits and a walk while striking out three.
Offensively, Susor had three hits and two runs scored to pace WSU.
Wright State (23-32) will be looking for its fifth-ever Horizon League Tournament title as the Raiders face #1 seed and host Oakland in the championship round starting Saturday at noon. The Raiders must defeate the Golden Grizzlies twice to win the title and earn the automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.
