Men's Soccer Falls in Double Overtime to Northern Kentucky
9/22/2015 4:00:00 AM | Men's Soccer
A Diego Martinez goal with just 1:03 remaining was the only goal of the night as the Wright State men's soccer team dropped a tough 1-0 double overtime decision to Northern Kentucky Tuesday night at Alumni Field.
The Raiders outshot the Norse 22-10 and led 15-3 in corner kicks, but the NKU defense preserved the shutout as goalkeeper A.J. Fleak recorded eight saves. WSU goalkeeper Tyler Blackmer posted two saves on the night.
"We learned a great lesson tonight," said WSU head coach Bryan Davis. "You can play as attractive as you want and outshoot teams by double their amount, but if you don't finish your chances, you lose games. Credit Martinez, he took a great shot."
Wright State (6-2, 1-1 Horizon) returns to action on Saturday, September 26, as the Raiders host Green Bay at 7:00.
