Two Teams Honored for Academics

The Wright State men's and women's soccer teams and the softball team were honored this week by their respective coaches associations.
The United States Coaches (formerly the NSCAA) honored the women's soccer team, which posted a team grade point average of 3.40 for the 2016-17 school year.
"This award is a testament to the culture of excellence that we've built over the years in this program," WSU head women's soccer coach Patrick Ferguson said. "It is also a testament to the tremendous individuals on this team who do a great job of balancing a division I athletics schedule with a very demanding academic schedule. I am proud of the players."
The softball team was also honored by its national organization, the National Fastpitch Coaches Association. WSU ranked 35th nationally with a GPA of 3.471.
"We are so proud of our Raider softball players for their academic accomplishments over the last year," WSU head softball coach Laura Matthews said. "Our team truly exemplifies what a student-athlete is, and we look forward to continued success on the field and in the classroom."
