The Wright State volleyball team rebounded from its loss at North Carolina State Friday with a convincing win over North Carolina Central Saturday morning 3-0 by scores of 25-21, 25-21 and 25-22. The Raiders are now 6-2 and NCCU drops to 1-7.
Celia Powers led the way with eight kills while Taylor Gibson had seven and Teddie Sauer ended with six. Lainey Stephanson continued solid play with 20 assists and 16 digs.
First Set
NCCU flew to a 4-0 lead but WSU came back as both teams kept it close until the end when the Raiders put the set away 25-21. Abby Barcus had five kills while Gibson, Powers and Stephenson collected three kills each. Stephenson added nine assists and six digs while Barcus posted seven digs.
Second Set
Though the Eagles made it close at the end, the Raiders led by as much as seven points, winning 25-21. Natalie Santana and Powers each had two of the Raiders' seven kills. Alannah Lemming posted three blocks while Jenna Story had five digs.
Third Set
A replay of set two, the Raiders were in command much of the set to post the 25-22 win and the match victory. Sauer registered four kills to lead the way as Stephenson had eight assists and nine digs. The Raiders hit .233 as a team with 24 digs.
Next Up
The Raiders will play Appalachian State at 2 pm Saturday at Campbell.
