Wright State falls at Milwaukee on Saturday

The Wright State volleyball team fell 3-1 at Milwaukee on Saturday afternoon, dropping the first two sets and battling back to win set three before losing the fourth set on the road. The Raiders drop to 16-4 overall and 5-3 in the Horizon League with the loss, while Milwaukee improves to 20-2 and 7-1 in conference play.
Wright State is back in action on Friday night as the Raiders continue their five-game road swing with a trip to Northern Kentucky.Â
The Raiders recorded 47 kills and 44 assists, along with 86 digs, on Saturday night. Teddie Sauer led the Raiders with 11 kills, with Taylor Gibson following with eight kills and Megan Alders adding seven. Jenna Story led the Raiders with 22 digs, Ellee Ruskaup picked up 17 and Hannah Colvin added 12 digs. Katie Meyer recorded a double-double with a match-high 31 assists and 10 digs.

Set 1
The points went back and forth to start the set until the Panthers went on a four-point run to make the score 9-5. Alders added a kill for Wright State to reach 10 points and pull within three. Wright State's offense struggled to put a ball down on Milwaukee's side and trailed by five points as the Panthers went into the red zone. The Panthers added a kill for set point at 25-16.

Set 2
Milwaukee started the set leading 9-2 until Sauer was able to knock a kill down to stop the Panthers' run. With the Panthers leading the set 1-10, the Raider offense had trouble scoring points. When Milwaukee reached the red zone, the Raiders were down by four points. Mallory Ladd knocked down a kill to keep the Panthers from winning at 24-18, but Milwaukee answered with a final kill to win 25-19.

The Panthers went on a five-point run to start the set before Sauer knocked a kill down for the Raiders' first point. As Milwaukee reached 10 points, Wright State was down by six. Gibson added a kill for the Raiders 10th point, but they still trailed by six. Wright State was able to go on a five-point run to shorten its deficit to two and tie the set at 24-24. Three straight kills from Wright State led them to win the set 26-24.

The Raiders started the set with an ace from Meyer, but Milwaukee answered with a five-point run to take the lead. The Raiders trailed by six when the Panthers reached 10 points. Milwaukee held the lead as its offense remained successful. Callie Martin added the Raiders 10th point with a kill, but the Panthers had a significant advantage as Wright State trailed by five as Milwaukee reached the red zone. Milwaukee went on to win the set 25-18.
