Wright State Director of Athletics Bob Grant has announced that Ben Roeser has been elevated to the head coach of the Wright State men's and women's tennis programs.
An assistant coach since 2017, Roeser has served as the Raiders' interim head coach throughout this fall, overseeing practices and fall competitions.
"I first would like to thank Bob Grant, Maigan Glass, Trevor Doll, Robert Ray and the entire search committee for entrusting in me to lead the Men's and Women's Raider tennis programs," Roeser said. "Growing up around the Dayton area, I have always been a huge Raider supporter, so having this opportunity to lead these Division I teams is truly a dream come true."
"As the head coach I am determined to live by the PSA (people, students, athletes) model in which Bob has instilled in the Athletic Department. Our goal as a program is not only to win Horizon League titles but to make every Raider graduate as a proud Raider. I want to also thank everyone who has helped me achieve this goal and I look forward to taking these programs to the next level," Roeser added.
"Ben has always been committed to the PSA mission of our athletics department. He understands that a well-balanced, happy student-athlete is more productive personally, in the classroom and on the court," said Maigan Glass, Assistant Athletics Director for Compliance. "We are excited to support him in building successful student-athletes, and successful tennis programs for years to come."
Prior to coming to Wright State, Roeser was part of a nationally-ranked team at the University of Southern Indiana as they reached the second round of the NCAA Tournament. A member of the Waynesville High School Hall of Fame, he was a three-time State Qualifier as he set the school record for most wins.
He received his Bachelor's degree in Specialized Studies (Communications and Recreation) from Ohio University.
