The Wright State softball team (14-18, 2-4) prepares for a busy Horizon League slate of games this week with a midweek series against Northern Kentucky followed by a road test against IUPUI over the weekend. The Raiders return to WSU Softball Field after winning two of three at Green Bay last weekend. Wright State overcame frigid conditions with 11-8 and 7-2 victories over the Phoenix.

Raidyn Johnson has led the Wright State offense in Horizon League play to this point in the season. Johnson has gone 6-10 at the plate in five appearances and has added a team-best four RBI as well. Madison Whitaker returned to the lineup over the weekend and batted 3-10 including a pair of doubles and two runs. In the circle, Makenna Durieux has totaled 14.0 innings against conference opponents with an even 3.00 ERA and a 1-0 record. The freshman has also recorded a team-high 51 strikeouts overall.
Northern Kentucky (9-19, 2-3)
The Norse enter the series at Wright State after picking up their first two conference wins against Oakland on Friday. Madi Mulder has started in each of the 28 games for Northern Kentucky this year and leads the team with 18 RBI. Taylor Ginther has powered the Norse pitching staff, recording 108.2 innings pitched in 17 starts and 21 appearances overall. Ginther has pitched at least six innings in each of her last seven starts. In 2018, the Norse won both regular season matchups against Wright State, but the Raiders won 4-0 in the Horizon League tournament. The all-time series between the two teams is tied at 12 apiece.
IUPUI (9-23, 3-1)
IUPUI sits third in the Horizon League standings after a 3-1 start to the conference schedule. The Jaguars swept Northern Kentucky and dropped their only matchup against Youngstown State after games two and three were canceled due to weather. Delaney Thompson has started strong in league play, posting a .429 average with four runs, four RBI, and a double. Lexi Lucas has handled most of the work in the circle for IUPUI not only in conference play but throughout the season. Lucas has dealt 50 strikeouts over the course of 117 innings. As a team, the Jaguars have surrendered over six runs a game but have cut that number in half in conference play. IUPUI holds a slight edge in the all-time series against Wright State, 10-9. In 2018, Wright State took the series against the Jaguars with two shutout performances. IUPUI will face Notre Dame and Butler before hosting Wright State this weekend.
The Raiders will travel to Toledo for a game next Monday before hosting cross-town rival Dayton for a pair of games Wednesday.
