@WSU_SB Prepares for Youngstown State

Wright State softball faces a tough challenge when they head north to face the first-place Youngstown State Penguins in a midweek series. The Raiders last took the field at home on Wednesday, splitting a doubleheader with Dayton. Each of the three games this week will be streamed on ESPN+. The two teams will square off in a doubleheader on Tuesday followed by the series finale on Wednesday.

Wright State (16-25, 3-9 HL)
The Raiders most recently shutout Dayton 3-0 at home to clinch the season series over the Flyers. Makenna Durieux tossed a four-hit shutout and punched out a career-high eleven batters. In her previous outing, the freshman recorded six innings against IUPUI. Rebekah Lenos continues to lead the Raiders offensively, batting at a .339 clip with an impressive .438 on-base percentage. Madison Whitaker added five hits in the past week included two doubles and an RBI.
WSU leads the overall series 41-38-1 after YSU won the three regular-season meetings as WSU defeated the Penguins in the tournament 6-4.
Youngstown State (20-20, 8-2 HL)
Youngstown State hosts Wright State after sweeping a weekend series against Cleveland State. The Penguins have been nearly perfect at home with an 11-1 record. Lexi Zappitelli has paced Youngstown State offensively with a team-best .306 batting average and has started each of the Penguins' 40 games this season. Grace Cea has contributed eight doubles and leads the Penguins with 26 RBI, which is good for sixth in the Horizon League. In the circle, Addy Jarvis has recorded 152 strikeouts, which is just eight shy of the top Horizon League mark held by UIC pitcher Ashley Mauser. Jarvis' ten wins also place her second in the conference for that category.
