The Wright State women's tennis team fell 1-4 against the top-seeded UIC Flames in the Horizon League Tournament semifinals on Saturday afternoon in West Lafayette, Indiana. The No.1 Flames are set to play the winner of No.2 Cleveland State and No.3 Oakland on Sunday in the League Finals.
Wright State's loss ends their season with their record sitting at 16-15, 5-4.
The Raiders fell behind early after dropping the doubles point. Haily Morgan and Madison Riley fell 3-6 on Court One while Grace Whitney and Luisa Pelayo lost 1-6 on Court Two.
In singles competition, the Flames extend their lead, 2-0, with a 6-0 and 6-1 win against Grace Whitney. Jillian Milano gained a point for the Raiders with a dominating 6-0, 6-0 win against one of the Flames' best players Rachel Le Comber.
Before the Flames clinched the win, Luisa Pelayo and Madison Riley both held leads against their opponents. Pelayo led Horizon League Second-Teamer Lucie Prochazkova 6-2, 3-6, and 2-1. Riley led her opponent in two sets 7-5 and 4-2.
