@WSU_SB Drops Close Game Against Toledo
4/8/2019 10:59:00 PM | Softball
After falling behind against the Toledo Rockets 4-1, Wright State (15-24) made a valiant comeback attempt but ultimately fell short.
2nd Inning
Madison Hartman and Raidyn Johnson each connected for singles in the top of the second but were left stranded to end the inning. In the home half, three singles and two stolen bases guided the Rockets to three runs against Olivia Otani. Toledo loaded the bases with one out in the next inning, but Otani battled back and escaped the inning with a pop up and a ground out to second.

4th Inning
Just like the Rockets, Wright State loaded the bases with just one out thanks to singles from Madison Hartman, Madison Mills, and Lauren Deitrick. Madison Nunez put a ball in play up the right side and recorded an RBI allowing Hartman to cross the plate. Rocket starter Kailey Minarchick got Rebekah Lenos to roll over into a groundout to first to end the inning and to preserve the Toledo lead. The Rockets added a run in the bottom of the frame with a pair of singles.

6th Inning
Madison Hartman led off with a single and darted to third base after a Raidyn Johnson single and Toledo error. Lauren Deitrick stepped in for an RBI single and Johnson scored while the Rockets were occupied with throwing out Deitrick attempting to steal second.
Â
7th Inning
The Raider comeback was cut short after Madison Hartman grounded out to the pitcher to end the game with runners on first and second.
Â
Wright State will look to snap a six-game losing streak at home in a doubleheader against Dayton on Wednesday at 4 pm. The Raiders won the previous matchup this season 7-5 in their home opener.
