The Horizon League announced winners of its Men's and Women's All-Sports Trophies for the top schools in both categories.Â
Wright State received the most points for the men's programs after winning regular-season titles in soccer, basketball and baseball and the golf championship on the men's side. This is a first for Wright State since joining the league in 1994-95. WSU's win also breaks a four-year streak by Oakland. The WSU women, winners of the women's trophy in 1999-00, finished tied for fourth place as the women's basketball team won the regular-season and tournament titles this past year. Women's cross country finished in second place, it's highest ever. Milwaukee took home the hardware for the women's programs.
"This is a first for Wright State and is a statement to the hard work and dedication of our student-athletes and coaches," WSU Director of Athletics Bob Grant said. "This was achieved during the most successful time in our history academically, which makes this award even more special."
The winner of this year's McCafferty Trophy, awarded annually to a member institution compiling the greatest number of performance points based on its finish in the League's 19 championship sports, will be announced on Tuesday at 1 p.m. along with complete McCafferty Trophy standings and point totals.
