On the final night of the three-game, ten-day tour of Italy, Wright State beat Caffee Ginko of Serbia 91-60. The Raiders were led in scoring by sophomore Skyelar Potter with 17 points, sophomore James Manns chipped in 16 points and junior Loudon Love added 10 points. All 15 players saw action for the second straight game.
Â
"We had a really good summer that was finished off with a win where we saw contributions from everyone," head coach Scott Nagy said. "We have a lot to work on before we start this season but we are at a huge advantage having played these three games in Italy. We look forward to getting back to work this fall."
Â
The Raiders stifled the Serbian team on the defensive end by forcing 25 turnovers and holding their opponent to 40 percent from the field and 26.3 percent beyond the arc. WSU shot 50.7 percent for the game.
Â
For the four freshmen on the roster, the trip provided a taste of their first collegiate competition experience.  "This was my first time playing at the college level," freshman Trey Calvin said. "It was a lot of fun. The game is so different and more physical in Europe but at the end of the day it is still basketball so we were able to adapt to the game."
The Raiders will get a chance to enjoy some time off until the fall semester starts on August 26. The 2019-20 season tips off on November 5 against Central State.
