
Raiders set for Huddle House Classic

The Wright State softball team looks to earn its first victory of the 2020 season in Tennessee, playing four games over two days against two separate opponents at the Huddle House Classic hosted by UT Martin.
The Raiders begin the weekend against Purdue Fort Wayne on Saturday at 11 a.m. ET before a matchup with tournament host UT Martin later that afternoon at 4 p.m. ET. Sunday's action includes an 11 a.m. ET matchup against Purdue Fort Wayne and a short turn around for another contest against UT Martin at 1:30 p.m. ET.

LAST TIME OUT
Wright State dropped its first five games of the season at the Mercer Invitational in Macon, Ga. Emily Daniel finished the weekend hitting .375 in eight at-bats while, Grace Gressly hit .364 in 11 at-bats with two homeruns, driving in two RBI and four hits. Briana Hutchinson, tallied three hits driving in one RBI. Payton Baxter and Madison Hartman each recorded homeruns for the Raiders. Raidyn Johnson and Baxter each drove in two RBI as well.
In the circle, five different Raiders made appearances in the opening weekend of play, with Carly Turner appearing in all five contests followed by Olivia Otani making four, respectively.
SCOUTING THE OPPONENTS
Purdue Fort Wayne
Purdue Fort Wayne went 10-39 last season, but picked up a win over Western Illinois in the Summit League Championship. The Mastodons scored two runs in the sixth, seventh, and eighth innings in a comeback win over the Leathernecks.
UT Martin
In 2019, UT Martin posted a 29-27 overall record while finishing seventh in the Ohio Valley Conference. The Skyhawks return two incumbent starters from a season ago in sophomores Kallie Pickens and Chelsey Gore. Pickens played in 42 games, primarily at third base, while posting a .270 batting average with four doubles, two home runs and eight RBIs. Gore was the primary starter as second base while posting a .264 batting average with three doubles, a triple and eight RBIs.Â
