Wright State softball dropped its third game of the Mercer Invitational, falling to Tennessee Tech 15-3 on Saturday morning in Macon, Ga. as the Golden Eagles used two five-run innings to take control.
Tennessee Tech took a 5-0 lead in the top of the first inning, led by Alexis Trimiar's three-run homerun, before a
Payton Baxter solo homerun over the left field fence in the bottom of the second inning would get Wright State on the board. An
Emily Daniel double to left field got things started for the Raiders in the bottom of the third inning, followed by a
Lauren Deitrick single advancing Daniel to third. A
Raidyn Johnson fly out advanced Deitrick to third base and allowed Daniel to score.
Brianna Hutchinson reached on an error by the Golden Eagles, allowing Deitrick to score.
The Golden Eagles five runs in the top of the fourth inning came on seven hits led by a Nicolle Nystead single followed by a KaDedra Temple RBI single which would set up a two-run homer from Sydney Love-Baker. Tennessee Tech would add two more to close out the top of the fourth before adding one final run in the top of the fifth.
Lauren Deitrick recorded the loss after allowing seven runs off five hits in 1.0 innings pitched.
The Raiders are back in action Saturday evening as they face Eastern Kentucky at 6 p.m.
