
Wright State fights, defeats Cleveland State on the road

The Wright State women's basketball team held off a determined Cleveland State squad to earn a 75-73 victory on Saturday afternoon on the road in Cleveland.
Wright State is now 14-10 overall and 9-4 in Horizon League play, while Cleveland State fell to 17-7 overall and 7-6 in HL action.
The third quarter was the difference for the Raiders as they outscored the Vikings 24-18 in that quarter and carried that momentum into the fourth quarter to go on a 6-0 run and outscore Cleveland State 24-22, despite being outscored in both the first and second quarters, 27-24 combined.
Redshirt freshman Shamarre Hale had a team-leading 18 points for the Raiders, finishing the contest shooting 8-for-10 from the field and 2-for-4 from the free throw line. Hale pulled down a team-high nine rebounds and recorded one steal in 18 minutes of action. Angel Baker and Anisja Harris both added 17 points for Wright State, as Baker finished the contest shooting 6-for-17 from the field, 2-for-5 from three point range and 3-for-4 from the line. The sophomore pulled down six rebounds and two steals against the Vikings. Harris finished the contest going 5-for-9 from the field, 4-for-7 from beyond the arc and a perfect 3-for-3 from the charity stripe. Teneshia Dixon added nine points Wright State going 3-for-4 from the field, 3-for-5 from the line and pulled down seven rebounds for the Raiders. Freshman Jada Roberson added seven points finishing the contest going 1-for-7 from the field and 5-for-6 from the line.
Wright State finished the contest shooting 37.9 percent from the field (25-for-66) while Cleveland State finished shooting 46.6 percent (27-for-58). The Raiders scored 18 of their 75 points off second chance opportunities while holding the Vikings to just 11.
The Raiders out rebounded the Vikings 46-32, while Cleveland State had a 32-28 advantage off of points in the paint. Wright State's bench finished with 33 points to CSU's four.
