Cross Country turns in strong showings at muddy Falcon Invite

BOWLING GREEN, OH – The Wright State cross country teams turned in strong efforts on Saturday morning at the Falcon Invite hosted by Bowling Green despite muddy course conditions.

The Wright State men finished second overall in the 8000m race behind three Raiders tallying individual finishes inside the top 10, paced by Jacob Poling's third place finish (26:18.15), while teammate Alex McCarty was just behind in fourth with his time of 26:19.78. Tayton Hess finished up the top finishers with his ninth place showing (26:46.04). Ryan Cooper (27:43.33) and Bryce Hohman (27:49.62) rounded out the top five Raiders with 35th and 37th place finishes, respectively.

Benjamin Bowers (51, 28:26.10), Nathan Sheriff (58, 28:57.53), Ethan Neblock (59, 29:05.62), Nathan Childs (68, 30:32.43), Alan Fullenkamp (69, 30:45.28), Michael Board (71, 30:57.83) and Jacob Wellman (75, 36:31.95) also ran for the Raider men on Saturday.

In the women's 5000m race, Wright State finished fifth behind a pair of top 15 finishes. The Raiders were led by Abigail Halsey, who finished second with her time of 22:37.21, while Emma Shigley (23:46.02) finished 13th overall. Kaitlyn Miller (40, 24:46.05) and Alicia Neumeier (44, 24:48.55) rounded out of the top five Raiders.

Emma Johnson (68, 26:03.31), Alycea Ruhlen (74, 26:56.39), Anna Johnson (80, 28:16.88) and Megan King (84, 30:51.04) also ran for the Raider women.

Wright State now gets set to host the Wild Bill Cross Country Fest next Friday afternoon before the 2021 Horizon League Championships take place on October 30 in Carmel, Indiana.
