
Story, Alders and Ott named to Horizon League All-Academic Team

DAYTON/INDIANAPOLIS – The Horizon League released its 2021 Volleyball All-Academic Team on Tuesday afternoon, recognizing student-athletes for their success both in competition and in the classroom. Wright State's Jenna Story, Megan Alders and Sam Ott were among the 23 student-athletes who were honored in balloting by the League's faculty athletics representatives.

A total of 13 student-athletes were named to the All-Academic Team while 10 more were tabbed as honorable mentions, with Story earning All-Academic honors and Alders and Ott earning honorable mention accolades.

Story, an Accountancy major, has appeared in all 29 of the Raiders' matches to date this season, tallying 110 total sets played as a libero, tallying 629 digs this season to date for a 5.72 digs/set average, while adding 25 service aces, the second-most on the Wright State roster. Her dig total is currently tops in the country and her digs per set average is No. 3 nationally, while both dig numbers lead the Horizon League. She became Wright State's new all-time digs leader on October 19 at Robert Morris, and now has over 2,200 career digs. Story as appeared on six consecutive Horizon League Academic Honor Rolls, dating back to the 2019 Spring listing, and her work in the classroom has earned her a spot on the Wright State University Dean's List three times, including with highest honors in Fall 2019 and high honors in Fall 2020.

Alders, a Communication Studies major, has appeared in all 29 of the Raiders' matches to date this season with 16 starts, tallying 107 total sets played as an outside hitter, with 281 total kills and a 2.63 kills/set average this season to date, both tops on the roster. Alders is a member of the Wright State Student-Athlete Advisory Committee, serving as the Director of Public Relations for the group, and has appeared on four consecutive Horizon League Academic Honor Rolls, dating back to the 2020 Fall listing. Her work in the classroom has earned her a spot on the Wright State University Dean's List four straight semesters, including with high honors in Fall 2019 and Spring 2020.

Ott, a Marketing major, has appeared in 25 of the Raiders' 29 matches to date this season, tallying 63 total sets played as an outside hitter, with 161 kills, the fifth-most on the roster, and a 2.56 kills/set average, second-best on the roster. Ott's work in the classroom has earned her a spot on the Wright State University Dean's List in both of her semesters, with highest honors in both Fall 2020 and Spring 2021.

The Horizon League recognizes student-athletes with seasonal Academic All-League Teams in each of its 19 championship sports. To be eligible for Horizon League All-Academic consideration, a student-athlete must have a cumulative grade-point-average of 3.20 or higher (based on a 4.00 scale), have completed at least one year at the member institution, having earned 24 semester-hour or 36 quarter-hour credits, and participate in 50 percent of the team's overall contests. An Honorable Mention team is awarded to student-athletes who received at least 25 percent of votes, but did not make the All-Academic team.
