Wright State men's soccer head coach
Jake Slemker and his staff announced three additions to their roster, effective in the fall of 2021. Sandro Branquinho, Saul Fernandez, and Cory Gleason have all signed national letters of intent to play with the Raiders.
The final three members of Slemker's 2021 class join previously signed Pierson Davis, Nate Erre, Brock Picket, and Conner Osterholt.
Branquinho, a native of Covilhã, Portugal comes to Wright State after previously playing for Sporting Clube de Portugal and Sporting Clube de Covilhã where he was a midfielder.
"Sandro is a very talented player and is coming to us from some of the best club environments in Portugal, he brings a new level of talent to the roster"
Fernandez, a center back and native of Gijón, Spain played for Real Sporting Gijón where he won a league title in 2018 and 2020.
"Saul is a very technical Center Back and a player we have been looking for. He has been playing at a very high level and should be able to make an instant impact for us."
A native of Witicha, Kansas, Gleason attended Eisenhower High School where he was a First Team All-Metro selection and earned All-Conference honors all four years. He also played club soccer for FC Wichita.
"Cory is a player that comes highly recommended out of Wichita and we are looking forward to adding him to this roster. He is a player that will come in right away and raise the level"
Wright State finished the shortened 2021 spring season with an overall record of 5-3-1.
