INDIANAPOLIS/DAYTON — Wright State senior Jenna Story has been named the Horizon League Player of the Week, the League office announced on Wednesday.
Â
Story led Wright State to a pair of home wins last weekend to improve the Raiders' winning streak to 14 straight matches as she moved inside the Top 5 all-time in NCAA history for career digs. Story collected 54 digs across the nine sets to move her career total to 2,786 digs over her five seasons, as she jumped over three names on the NCAA list, including former Taylor Root of former HL foe Valparaiso, and sits in fourth place all-time just six digs shy of moving into third place in NCAA history. She collected 29 digs in the five-set victory over Cleveland State, just four off her season-best and 10 shy of her career-high, while being one of five Raiders with double-digit digs as Cleveland State tried to work its offense away from her. Story also added nine assists and a service ace over the two wins.
Â
Story averaged 6.0 digs per set this weekend, ahead of her season average of 5.49 digs/set, and now has 461 digs to date this season. She is No. 10 nationally with those 461 digs while her 5.49 digs/set average is ninth in the country and leads the Horizon. Story is only 19 digs shy of the HL leader in total digs despite having played in eight less sets.
