Bowlers sweep, both win groupings at Raider Classic

DAYTON – The Wright State bowling team grabbed a pair of first place finishes over the weekend in two different divisions as Wright State hosted the Raider Classic.

Mia Sayles and Makenzie Gossett were named to the all-tournament team in the Green division, while Kennedy Moore, Alina Stebbins and Abby Derham earned spots on the Gold division all-tournament team.

After five team games and 16 Baker games, the Gold squad was in first, while the Green squad was second going into the elimination bracket.

The Gold team faced off against the Rio Grande, Notre Dame College and Marian, knocking out Notre Dame College and Marian in four games total pinfall before beating the Rio Grande in the final two games to finish with a total pinfall 458-302 and the first-place section finish. The Green group faced off against the Northwestern Ohio, Notre Dame College, and Marian, tallying a total pinfall of 794 in the four-game total pinfall. They knocked out Notre Dame College and Marian to face Northwestern Ohio in the final, beating them 383-374 to win their secion.

The Raiders will bowl in the Ohio Bowling Conference Event 3 this week to wrap up the fall portion of their schedule before resuming action in mid-January at the Midwest Collegiate Classic in Illinois.
