Raiders drop conference game at Green Bay

GREEN BAY, Wisc. — The Wright State women's basketball team dropped a conference matchup at Green Bay 75-55 on Sunday afternoon inside the Kress Center.
The Raiders fell to 5-21 overall and 4-12 in the Horizon League, while Green Bay won its seventh straight game to improve to 21-4 on the season and 14-2 in conference play.
Cara VanKempen tied a season-high in points with 11 and added seven rebounds, two assists, and two blocks. Kacee Baumhower reached double figures with 10 points on 3-of-11 shooting, while Isabelle Bolender scored eight points in the loss.
Wright State shot a season-low 29.2 percent (19-of-65) from the field, which included a 28.6% (12-of-42) mark on 3-pointers. The Raiders dished out 15 assists on their 19 baskets, led by Emily Chapman with five helpers. WSU also took care of the ball with only six turnovers, its second-lowest mark through 25 games this season.
The Phoenix had three players in double figures, headlined by Natalie McNeal with 16 points and 16 rebounds off the bench. The host team shot 41.1% (30-of-73) overall, scored 42 points in the paint, and outrebounded Wright State 57-to-35.
The Raiders trailed 39-25 at halftime after shooting 28.1% (9-of-32) overall while allowing Green Bay to 17 field goals and a 31-to-16 advantage in rebounding. Seven of WSU's nine makes came from beyond the arc, including a pair of 3-pointers by VanKempen and Bolender.
Green Bay outscored WSU 22-17 in the third quarter to build their lead to 61-42. The Raiders cut their deficit down to 63-48 following a 3-pointer by VanKempen with 8:03 to go in the fourth quarter. However, Wright State was held to seven points for the remainder of the game, sealing a 75-55 loss.
Bryce Nixon and Baumhower paced the Raider attack in the second half with seven points apiece. Makiya Miller added four points and three rebounds.
Wright State will continue its road swing at Purdue Fort Wayne on Thursday, February 16.
