Noel, Huibregtse combine for 53 in Raider road win

OXFORD, OH – The Wright State men's basketball team saw Brandon Noel and Alex Huibregtse combine for 53 points on Saturday afternoon as the Raiders closed the afternoon on a 16-6 run to grab an 81-68 road victory at Miami (OH).
 
Wright State remains on the road heading into next week, with the Raiders traveling north to take on Toledo on Wednesday night. Wednesday's contest is set for a 7 p.m. tipoff and fans can follow the action on ESPN+, via live stats or by tuning in to the home for Raider Basketball 101.5 HANK FM and WING 1410 AM.
 
Down three at the half, Wright State found themselves leading by three after a Miami (1-1) basket with just over six minutes remaining. Huibregtse pushed the margin back to a two-score game with a fadeaway jumper in the paint and followed that up with a three-pointer from straight on the next trip down the court. The back-to-back buckets kicked off a stretch 11 straight points from the Raiders over the next three minutes that saw them force Miami into three turnovers. Keaton Norris notched four points of his own during the run as Wright State extended its advantage out to 76-62 with 2:36 to play, effectively sealing the victory.
 
Noel finished with 27 points on 10-of-15 shooting as he pulled down 16 rebounds, including 12 on the defensive end, and added three blocks and three steals. Huibregtse poured in 18 of his 26 points in the second half, finishing 11-of-16 overall with a 4-of-6 mark from three-point range, pulling down six rebounds of his own with a trio of steals. Five other Raiders found the scoring column, with Jack Doumbia turning in eight points, Andrew Welage notching six points on a pair of threes, and both Logan Woods and Norris chipping in five points, with four points from Michael Imariagbe.
 
Wright State finished the afternoon with a 55 percent shooting percentage overall (31-of-56), a mark that jumped up to 62 percent in the second half, while the Raiders were 7-of-21 (33 percent) from the three-point line. Defensively, the Raiders held Miami to just 32 percent overall shooting in the second half with a 1-of-9 mark from the three-point line as the hosts finished with a 42 percent overall (27-of-64) shooting mark for the game with six three-pointers (6-22, 27 percent).
 
The Raiders forced Miami into 12 turnovers and had nine steals, tallying 21 points off those takeaways, while Wright State passed out 16 assists on its 31 made baskets, including seven assists from Norris.  
 
Kam Craft finished with 23 points for Miami in the loss, while Eian Elmer was also in double figures with 12 points.
